Only one left! Very cool guy's gift.
Within a stone’s throw of the Montegrappa works – home of the oldest pen manufacture in Italy – is the heart of another industry. Grappa is the local tipple, and it has never been more popular and Montegrappa again honours the locals’ favourite beverage with a pen inspired by both the drink and the equipment that distils it.
Featuring a shape that is classic Montegrappa, curvaceous yet sleekly contemporary, the Montegrappa Mini Mule pen collection further displays its familial links with a cap top bearing the famous “1912” logo, while the nib of the fountain pen is embellished with a filigree Montegrappa pattern. The cap and barrel are crafted in mirror-polished copper, further defined by a brushed silver-plated trim. The effect recalls the well-used, vintage piping and tubing employed in the process of producing grappa. Over the time, each Montegrappa Mule will acquire its own unique patina through handling by its fond owner, truly personalising the writing instrument. Easily recyclable without any loss of property, copper is a naturally hygienic metal that slows down the growth of germs. It is widely used in food preparation and health equipment, as well as in design and various artistic forms.
Measuring in at 128mm (5”) and weighing only 33g (1 1/6 oz.), the Mini Mule’s compact size is made to be taken anywhere. By reengineering the internal chambers of one of its most popular silhouettes, Montegrappa has managed to give the Mini Mule the same ink-capacity as much larger models.
Italy's first pen manufacturer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa - a picturesque town along the Brenta River, which flows through Alpine foothills in northeastern Italy. Utilizing natural celluloid and precious metals, Montegrappa combines traditional methods such as die-casting with more recent innovations as low-relief engraving to form their precious art objects. Whether they use colors reminiscent of the master painters or ornamentation suggestive of Baroque palaces, the Italian heritage and romance is infused into each product.
